Wind tunnels around the world
In 2002, the School of Civil Engineering pointed out the need for a wind tunnel large enough for research relative to wind load on buildings and other outdoor constructions. However, since a working section of about 1m2 is necessary, it is very costly and such an investment would be worth pursuing only if its usage factor is high enough.

A research project was carried out from June 2005 to July 2006, for the design of a general purpose low-speed research wind tunnel, which could cover as many engineering and scientific research areas as possible. The research project inscription number is 324-A6-168, of the School of Mechanical Engineering and was carried out under the direction of engineering professor Juan Gabriel Monge-Gapper.

Although construction costs are considerably lower than the purchase of a similar package tunnel, this project will depend on finding sponsors within private partners that may benefit from the operation of such a facility in Costa Rica.
